God's goodness

God has been so good. I've been thinking a lot of the changes that's been going on in my life lately. For starters, I just got this awesome promotion at work. Well, I guess you could call it a promotion. The chiropractor I work for has remodeled his extra office so he can offer massage therapy in his practice. This means we've got 2 new massage rooms with new carpet, new paint on the walls, new massage tables. These rooms are probably close to twice as big as the rooms I am used to working in. This is a huge blessing in my life. My hours at work have now doubled, I am going from only getting to work 1-2 days a week to getting to work 5 days a week. It seems like with every day that passes, God is showing me another facet of His goodness and glory. I pray that my life will be a living testimony of that fact, and that others will see God living in me. That people will know that God is not mad at them, and He loves them. He loves them so much that He sent His only Son to take their place, so they wouldn't have to spend an eternity apart from Him. I look forward to each passing day to see what God will do next and to see His plan for my life unfold. "Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere"-Psalm 84:10

The big day

Wow it's been over a month since I've last posted. So much has been going on in my life lately that I just haven't had the time to add anything new. This past weekend is an example. Friday was spent helping Sandy get ready for her wedding doing things such as decorating the church and getting the stuff together for the reception. We had the wedding rehearsal that evening followed by the bachelor/bachelorette party. The bachelorette party I am not at liberty to discuss because--what happened at the bachelorette party stays at the bachelorette party!!! ;-) But anyways we had a blast! I got home the next morning around 1 or so and got a little sleep. The wedding that day started at 3 in the afternoon but we stayed busy beforehand running last minute errands and getting ready. The ceremony itself went off without a hitch and was beautiful. You could see the love shining in their eyes as they pledged their lives to one another. I know they will have a life overflowing with love and happiness. As for the reception, it was beautiful as well. Nick's family did an awesome job getting everything ready. Soo all in all it was an awesome day and a great way to end the year. I was proud to stand beside them as their maid of honor and happy to be the one that caught the bouquet!! My best wishes and congratulations go out to the happy couple. I love y'all!!

The Christmas season has officially begun. No it didn't begin the day after Halloween, it didn't start weeks ago when the stores started breaking out the Christmas trees. Today, November 25th, is the start of the season. One month until Christmas. That, in many people's minds, means one month of shopping, baking, decorating, and pushing and shoving in lines to get that one perfect gift. It is so sad the fact that Christmas has gotten so commericial. I know I'm sounding just like Linus from the Peanuts Christmas special, but it's true. Imagine if people everywhere actually stopped and reflected on the true Reason for the season...maybe then people wouldn't be shoving in lines and fighting in stores. Also, I'm getting fed up with people saying "Happy Holidays" cause they want to be "politically correct". This is America. If people want to say "Merry Christmas" they should be allowed to with no rebuttal from the liberal Scrooges of this country. Anyways, that's enough ranting from me for one post. Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!!

Flirty Kids

I work at my church's nursery and preschool department twice a month. My official title is "service captain" or "nursery overseer". It basically means that I assist the Nursery and preschool director doing whatever she needs me to do. So I go to church yesterday and get started making sure each room has all the supplies that are needed and that each room has a sign-in sheet for the parent to check their child in. Afterwards Jeannie, the director, asked me to sit at the visitor's check in and answer any questions the parent might have and help them get their children registered. So I get busy doing that, barely even noticing this family come in. She was a single mother with two young boys each about 3 years old. While helping their mother, I took a moment to look down and smile at each boy. One was oblivious to me, he was way more interested in the toy selection to be had in his classroom, but the other had different intentions in mind. Because after I smiled at him, he looked up at me with these big brown eyes....and winked at me. A three year old winked at me. I mean I guess it was cute and all, but it makes me wonder what he has seen at home. Kids minds are like little sponges, they absorb everything they see. If they see something inappropriate, they will more than likely attempt to do what they have observed at some point. If they get the reaction they are hoping for, such as a giggle, they will do it again. Parents wonder why their kids act the way they do, maybe some just need to stop and reflect on their own behavior.

Tickles from God

God has really been showing me some things lately. Mainly that He has a sense of humor, and that He wants us as His children to have a sense of humor as well. I really believe God watches over us and says something like "Yeah, she could really use a good dose of laughter today." And in His own way, He tickles us. I don't mean literally, but have you even been in a situation or heard something that really wasn't all that funny but you just start laughing and cannot stop? That has happened to me several times in the past few days. My stomach will be so sore by the time I'm able to stop laughing. I think that is God's way of tickling His children, He knows when we are stressed and need a good laugh. And I believe He laughs right along with us. It's like when a father tickles his little boy or little girl, he can't help but to laugh right along with them. He sees that joy and delight on their faces and lights up from the inside out. And then both of them are laughing and forgetting about the worries of the day. Maybe we should let God tickle us more often, maybe times like that would help us forget about our worries.

Is there something in the water??? It seems like everyone I know is either getting married, having a baby, or just had a baby. It makes me want to shake my head and breathe a sigh of relief that my time has not come yet...still some days of freedom!!!! WAHOO!!!
